Good Vibrations
It’s been suggested that we’re all one energy intertwined and that vibrations with similar frequencies gravitate toward each other. Whether it’s people or incidents, like attracts like. Therefore, when it rains it pours and when it’s all good, we’re on a lucky streak.
We can choose to be happy, or not. Our experience is a direct reflection of that on which we focus. Theoretically, projecting positive energy out in front of us could ensure a positive outcome of events, such as a profitable sales meeting, a successful interview, a safe morning commute, etc. Envisioning a positive outcome with feeling, or good vibrations, before the next venture may increase the odds for achieving a goal or simply to have a good day.
Does it work? In the scheme of things, I’ve had more success than not in achieving my goals. Both in the small moment-to-moment tasks on any given day and in the more significant goals, the milestones. One could argue that it’s pure luck. One could claim it’s the law of attraction or quantum physics. Or one could believe that it’s prayer and that this energy, being God, is in total control. In essence, He’s returning to me what I’m putting out to the universe and responding in kind to my level of faith.
I believe that God has the final say in the final outcome. Setting goals with intention, positive energy and, yes, prayer and faith. Always prayer and faith. Simplified: think, feel, believe, achieve. Always practice with an attitude of gratitude and a sense of expectancy, believing that there will be a breakthrough leading to the final destination.
Declaring intentions everyday, reminding myself to be grateful, believing positive energy is in my path, and thanking God in advance for the blessings I’m about to receive. This is having faith with a pure heart and keeping my eye on the prize.

“So here’s the flash: Continuing to live life as a victim of circumstance, forever focusing on what’s wrong with everything and everybody, will never, ever, bring the life desired. It will only bring one thing: more of whatever it is we’re wanting so desperately to change.”
― Lynn Grabhorn, Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings
Embrace and Love Life
“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” John Lennon

Don’t Ever Let Them Steal Your Joy!
We’re human. We’re bound to experience the odd rough day. Traffic, bad day at the office, stormy and messy weather, running late, crossing paths with a not-so-joyful-soul; it all makes for a crummy day. One that makes you want to crawl back into bed and wake up to a fresh new start.
Ideally, the best way to counteract misery and keep your joy is to avoid it all together. In real life, we can’t always eliminate uncomfortable situations from our daily routine. Coping with the doom and gloom and overcoming it is nothing short of a survival skill. Here’s some of my ammunition:
Prayer. Sharing my frustration, tears, anger, or worries with God. He always listens. Prayer brings me to a place of comfort, faith, and strength. I turn all my pain over to God knowing that He’s in control. In so doing, I can be sure all will work out for the best.
Yoga. There’s nothing more calming and grounding than 45 minutes of focusing on my own breath, stretching into poses, and balancing into stillness. It takes me back to my own reality while taking me out of the temporary chaos that stirred up any anxiety.
Exercise. I walk it off. Whether in the sunshine or on my treadmill, pumping the endorphins is a sure way of lifting my mood. The plus side, extra weight keeps its distance.
A time out. It’s not just for toddlers. In the heat of the moment, I walk away. Take a few deep breaths. Ask God for patience and strength. Return, if I must, with a clearer head, a stronger reserve, and the faith that soon the distressing incident will be nothing but a memory.
Vent. That one good friend who listens to my woes, makes me giggle, and pulls me up from the dumps. During these heart-to-heart talks, I’m reminded that I’m truly blessed.
Food. I’m an advocate of comfort food, savoring tasty treats that provide comfort. For me, there’s nothing like plunging a fork into macaroni and cheese, scooping up gooey cheese into a scoopable chip, or swirling a spoon into a mound of ice cream and relishing every bite. Sometimes a girl just needs a taste of comfort to help soothe her soul.
A soothed soul will always take me back to my joyful heart.
